Let Me Introduce Myself

Hello, everyone--

My name is Evleen Nasir and I am a PhD. student in Theatre History at Louisiana State University.  I received my B.A. in Theatre and English as well as my M.A. in Performance Studies from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and this is not my first time at the blog rodeo

In the past I have attempted to keep a blog documenting my educational exploits and have failed.  Usually, I became to busy or just even forgot that I had a blog.  This time however, will be different. I have been tasked to start and maintain a blog for my American Theatre class.  Not only must we post regularly but for the entire month of October we are required to post 600 words everyday.

I know that 600 words a day for a whole month seems like a lot ( so far, this is only 149 words) but these words are blog words not academic words.  It is much easier to write 600 words when you know that they are only going to be seen by your professor, two other classmates, your best friend and your mom (Look mom, I'm on the internet!).

This blog is a place to practice writing and for working on the research process not the product.  This is a virtual space where I can talk about how I am looking out the second story window of the Communications across the Curriculum lab in the Music and Dramatic Arts Building and I am wondering what Foucault would say about blogging as a site of confession. Then I can go on a tangent about how I wonder what it would be like if Foucault was my grandfather but, then that would make me French and I am not sure how I feel about being French or about having to talk about discourse all the time.

Anyway, this blog will be a way of communicating the many trials and triumphs that I am sure to face as I work my way to a PhD... or just a place to post funny pictures of cats and hilarious YouTube videos.

P.S. I only made it to 362 words.
